Blood Moon
Blood Moon follows climbers Robbie Phillips, Calum Cunningham and Alan Carne as they attempt to open a new route, ground up, on Tsaranoro Atsimo — a 700-metre big wall rising from the wilds of Madagascar and one of the sheerest vertical faces in Africa. The rock is beautiful and bold, the ambition enormous. Then, as the free climbing begins, disaster strikes: Alan takes a bad fall and shatters his lower right leg, and an epic ordeal unfolds to get him off the remote wall to safety.
Why This Film Matters: What begins as a feel-good adventure of friends chasing a first ascent becomes something far deeper — a study of risk, fear and loyalty. Left with hard questions after Alan's rescue, Robbie and Calum must weigh ambition against emotion, and the film captures, honestly, what it truly costs to push boundaries on a wall like this.
