In March 1971, a lineup of American soul, R&B, and gospel legends flew to Accra to perform an all-night concert marking the fourteenth anniversary of Ghana's independence. Soul to Soul captures Wilson Pickett, Ike & Tina Turner, Santana, Roberta Flack, and the Staple Singers on stage and off, as the musicians connect with Ghanaian audiences and artists in a homecoming across the Atlantic.

Why This Film Matters: More than a concert film, Soul to Soul documents a historic meeting of African American music and its African roots at a moment of Pan-African hope. The performances are electric, but it is the exchange between the artists and the people of Ghana that gives the film its lasting power.
