When Europe's refugee crisis peaked, a young Dane joined volunteers rescuing people from drowning in the Aegean Sea. Then, searching for a family lost at night, Salam was arrested and charged with human smuggling, facing a possible life sentence. In Greece, the birthplace of democracy, his trial becomes a test of the continent's conscience.

Why This Film Matters: It turns a single court case into a stark question about where compassion ends and criminality begins, exposing how border politics can put humanitarianism itself on trial.
